Best Vortex Hiking Trails in Sedona, Arizona

If you love hiking and nature, Sedona is a MUST-VISIT for you.

I had the pleasure of spending 4 months in Sedona last year (2023) and personally hiked a few of the renowned vortex trails in Sedona.

In this blog post, you will find a list of the most popular vortex hiking trails in Sedona.

Here are the trails I personally hiked.

Airport Mesa Vortex

I LOVED this one for an easy morning hike with a breathtaking scenery to start the day. The view from this vortex is BREATHTAKING.

When you get to the lookout, you’ll see a 360 view of Sedona, the canyon and the red rocks. It’s one of the most unforgettable things I have ever seen in my life.

It takes about 20 mins to get the lookout from the parking lot.

The energy of this vortex is said to be masculine and feminine. This means energizing, transformative, but also soothing and whimsical.

Cathedral Rock Vortex

This trail has a VERY magical, feminine energy. It’s a beautiful place to practice yoga. You can take a park n ride shuttle there for free and explore or you can park there.

Grasshopper’s Trail

Grasshopper’s Trail is a BEAUTIFULLY serene trail and has some of the most majestic air and energy that I have ever experienced. If you need to clear your mind, sit with your thoughts and just take in the beauty of nature, head to Grasshopper’s Trail late afternoon.

Bell Rock

This one is something else. I can’t really put my experience into words but I hiked past Bell Rock when I was on a mission from Village of Oak Creek to Uptown Sedona. There are some indigenous looking arts on some of the rocks and the energy that this site radiates is highly transformative and intense.

Here’s the list of the most popular vortex hiking trails in Sedona.
  • Bonyton Canyon
  • Chapel of the Holy Cross
  • Cathedral Rock
  • Airport Mesa
  • Bell Rock
  • Devil’s Bridge
  • Courthouse Butte Loop

Things to be mindful of.
  • Arizona gets VERY hot, so it’s important to be mindful what time you are heading out on your hike. I was there from June to September, so right in the heat of summer and it was important to hike early like 6 am / 7 am start and be back indoors / off the trail before 8:30 am.
  • Sedona is really best done with a car. I didn’t have a car when I was there so I relied on the Sedona Shuttle, Bob’s Taxi and a LOT of walking. If you’re there from out of state, rent a car for pickup at Phoenix airport to make your trip seamless.
  • Sedona is 2 hours north of Phoenix and 1 hour south of Flagstaff. If you’re not driving a car to Sedona, the way I got there from Phoenix airport was Groome Transportation Shuttle. They are AMAZING!
